Silent Call for Help
Everyone knows the important emergency numbers that every young child is taught: 122 Fire Department, 133 Ambulance, 144 Police, or 112, the European emergency number that connects you to the right service.
But what happens when you cannot or are not allowed to draw attention to yourself in an emergency? For example, in cases of domestic violence, kidnapping, or when you need help without anyone noticing?
The Silent Call for Help is a silent distress signal for exactly these situations. It allows people in danger to signal for help—without saying a word—and receive assistance from people who recognize the signal!
How it works:
1. Raise your hand flat, palm facing the other person.
2. Fold your thumb into your palm.
3. Close your remaining fingers over your thumb.
For anyone who recognizes this signal, it means they should immediately get help or free the person from the situation—of course, only if doing so does not put themselves in danger.
