Being healthy means more than simply not being ill. Statistics showing a steadily increasing life expectancy often make us forget that, at the same time, ever-growing segments of the population suffer from diseases caused by modern civilization. Rheumatism, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, skin diseases, allergies, and immunological disorders are accepted as the price of increasing life expectancy. This is unjustified, as the book convincingly demonstrates.

In its scientific pursuit, medical progress has overlooked an elementary fact: the human body is made up exclusively of nutrients. Nutrients form the complex, interconnected gear mechanism of the human “clockwork.” The gears are constantly renewed through the daily intake of nutrients, provided their quality and quantity meet the needs of a healthy organism. A long-term deficiency of essential trace elements has consequences for health just as fatal as a permanent excess of foreign substances, such as residues from animal feed, which we effectively “consume along with” cheap milk or cheap cheese.

It is therefore metabolism—or, more precisely, nutrient metabolism—that determines whether we become healthy or ill, and whether we remain healthy or ill. If a bodybuilder can build muscle mass with proteins, and a young girl can increase her red blood cells with iron salts, why shouldn’t we also be able to deliberately “feed” the heart muscle, nerve tissue, liver, immune cells, and other organs and systems with nutrients?

We can.

This book offers an in-depth insight into a new dimension of medicine. A book for critically minded readers, doctors, pharmacists, and practitioners of other healing professions.
